IBM Dynamic Pricing:   Make it your own (MIYO)

MIYO, did you know this stands for Make It Your Own?

Recently, I was hosting a birthday party.  I wanted to create customized items for the party.  I had a theme for the event.  I found a website and I uploaded my data and had some rules that determined the output. I quickly reviewed the results.  It wasn’t perfect, so I changed some of the design rules.  Then I got the perfect output. Check it out!

It was so easy, that I created other items for my party.  And the party was a success. Creating the party item customization can be equated to uploading your own data and then creating your own strategies. Let’s take a look out what you need to do to upload your own data into the trial.

We created a tour to help you out along the way. The tour is called Quick concepts: Add data, it provides a high-level view of the import data process. You can find this tour and others at the Help > Getting started.

After watching the tour, now it’s time to move on to switching out the sample data. You need to complete this step before you can add your own. But don’t worry, you can switch back to the sample data at any time.

Here  is the simple procedure to switch out the sample data:

  1. Click Data
  2. Click Manage
  3. Click Demo data set (Batteries sample)
  4. Click My data set
  5. Click Switch

If you need some help with this task, we created a tour called Switch out sample data which you can also find at Help > Getting started.  You can click along with the tour to switch out the sample data.

Now, it’s on to importing your own data. You need to import the following required data sets:

  • Products
  • Locations
  • Price zones
  • Costs
  • Prices
  • Competitor prices
  • Statuses

To start the upload process, click Add data to get started for one of the data sets, and follow the on-screen steps.

Additionally, we provided a data template for each data type. You can download and use our template or you can create your own.   After you have your data prepared, click Next and drag your files to the upload zone.  After your file uploads, map your column headings to our schema.

Once you have imported all of the required data sets, then move on to creating your own strategies and applying them to your products.

If you haven’t signed up for the trial, then maybe you should.   You can have a free 30-day trial. You can play with the sample data we provide, or you can upload your own data.
